All of the Type II wallcoverings in the Innvironments line meet or exceeded all Federal Standard CCC-W-408-D tests including: washability, scrubbabiltiy, abrasion resistance, stain resistance, smoke development and flame spread. These wallcoverings have been used in hotel and hospital corridors as well as guest baths in hotels and resorts worldwide.
One of the most compelling characteristics of the TYPE II wallcoverings in the Innvironments line is their permeability. Mold and mildew are generic terms for fungi, a naturally occurring organism that makes up approximately 25% of the earth's biomass. In order for mold to flourish, it needs these four elements: a nutrient source, appropriate temperature, moisture and a source of mold spores. To keep mold from growing indoors requires the elimination of one of the four components, the key being moisture. Keeping the wall dry and free from moisture requires a breathable wallcovering. This will not guarantee the wall will remain free of mold and mildew, but it can aid in its reduction.
Permeability varies depending on the construction and weight of a wallcovering. The test gives a rating from 0 to 100. A standard 20 oz vinyl has a perm rating of less than 1 (impermeable).
In comparison, Innovations Allegory receives a perm rating of 33.1/ Eco-Suede 53.8/Italia 40.2 on the US Perms test (vapor permeable/ breathable). An additional anti-microbial can be added to the wallcovering adhesive to help inhibit the source of mold spores.
Composition:The primary composition for all Innvironments Type II products is wood pulp from managed forests and recyclable fabric fibers.
Construction:Innovations terms these wallcoverings "NON-WOVENS" as they employ fibers that are bonded together. These fibers are deposited at random ensuring a non-geometric, fibrous profile. Innovations non-wovens are: PVC and plasticizer free and use water based inks and minerals to achieve color and sheen.
Width:Innvironments Type II wallcoverings are 52/54" wide.
Permeability:All of the wallcoverings in the Innvironments line are breathable, thus aid in the reduction of mold and mildew, a component in Sick Building Syndrome. These wallcoverings are excellent for hot and humid locations, as they do not create a vapor barrier if installed correctly.
Weight:The weight varies depending on the construction; please consult the technical specification on the reverse of each product.
